Donation Policy

​At Lakehouse Candle Company, we value the opportunity to give back to our community and support causes that align with our values. As a small business, we receive numerous requests for donations each year, and, although we would love to support every worthy cause, we must set guidelines to ensure that our contributions are meaningful, sustainable, and fair.

This policy outlines the criteria and process for donation requests to help us manage these requests effectively and transparently.

Our Donation Focus
 

We prioritize supporting the following types of organizations and events (in alphabetical order):

​

1. Animal Welfare: Local animal rescues and shelters.

2. Arts and Music: Initiatives that support local art and music in the community.

3. Charitable Causes: Nonprofits addressing issues such as environmental sustainability, mental health, or supporting underserved populations.

4. Community Enrichment: Events or organizations that directly benefit the Brown County and/or Nashville, Indiana, community.

5. Education: Local schools, PTOs, and teacher appreciation initiatives, as well as organizations and events that promote critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and lifelong learning. We are especially interested in supporting professional development opportunities and inclusive educational efforts that empower individuals to think independently.

6. Empowerment of Women: Organizations or programs that help women pursue their passions and achieve independent success.

7. Local Businesses and Collaborations: Initiatives that highlight and uplift the local business community.

 

Eligibility Requirements
 

To be considered for a donation, your organization must:

1. Be a registered nonprofit or have a clear mission that benefits the community.

2. Be located within or directly benefit the Nashville, Indiana, area.

3. Submit a formal request at least 30 days prior to the event or date needed.

4. Provide a receipt for the donation for tax purposes.

 

Donation Guidelines

1. Donation Types: We typically provide the following:

   • Gift cards

   • Candle gift baskets (value up to $100)

   • Individual candles

2. Frequency: Organizations may receive one donation per calendar year to ensure we can assist as many groups as possible.

3. Limitations: We cannot provide donations for:

   • Events or causes unrelated to our community or values.

   • Requests from individuals or for-profit ventures.

   • Organizations that have not supported Lakehouse Candle Company in the past (e.g., shopping at our store, promoting our business).

How to Submit a Request

All donation requests must include the following information:

1. Organization’s Name and Mission: Briefly describe your organization and how it benefits the community.

2. Event Details: Include the event date, location, and purpose.

3. Type of Donation Requested: Specify whether you’re requesting a gift card, gift basket, or candle(s).

4. Receipt for Donation: Confirm that you will provide a receipt for tax purposes and include the necessary details (e.g., nonprofit tax ID, organization name).

5. Deadline: Let us know when you need the donation.

6. Contact Information: Provide the name, phone number, and email of the person responsible for coordinating donations.

Approval Process

​

1. Donation requests are reviewed weekly.

2. Priority is given to organizations that meet our eligibility requirements and align with our donation focus.

3. Approved requests will be notified via email within 7 business days of review.

 

Acknowledgment

To help us continue supporting the community, we kindly ask that recipients of our donations:

1. Mention or promote Lakehouse Candle Company in event materials, social media, or other communications (if appropriate).

2. Share a brief note or photo after the event to show how the donation was used.
